Submission Administration

Responsibilities:
Performs a range of administrative activities for the underwriting operations department. Establishes underwriting files, manages submission intake and entry, interfaces with the underwriters on agent/broker communications and problem resolution, performs system updates, and drafts external communications. Perform data entry in Darwin’s proprietary policy administration systems. Responsibilities are not limited to the above and may include other duties as required/requested by the individual’s supervisor.

Requirements:
Proficient computer skills, especially with Windows-based systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet; proven written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated professionalism in an office environment; ability to prioritize workload according to volume and urgency; highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented; demonstrated ability to perform standard office functions, telephone and email communications, filing, etc. Minimum requirements: College experience and/or two years' professional work experience in insurance industry preferred.


Account Coordinator

Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters by rating/pre-underwriting new and renewal submissions, and following each account through to issuance of policy, or policy declination. Initiate and manage account renewal process. Manage submission intake and renewal requests. Research and organize new/renewal submissions to assist underwriters in determining if the risk fits within our underwriting appetite. Draft external communications for agent/broker communications. Establish and maintain electronic and paper underwriting files. Issue and transmit released quotes into Darwin's proprietary underwriting system and other applications. Complete and distribute insurance documentation to policyholders and agents/brokers. Follow-up and process policy endorsements. Provide customer service to agents by answering questions via phone, email or fax. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:
2 years’ professional work experience, previous insurance experience or training preferred. Proficient computer skills, especially in Windows-based systems Microsoft Word and Excel, and Internet. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Multitask and work independently and problem solve. Must be highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented. Ability to perform standard office functions, telephone, e-mail communications, filing, etc.


Senior Claim Analyst

Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims made against Darwin’s expanding employment practices liability and governmental liability books of business. Effectively manage a vigorous load of cases involving a broad spectrum of accounts and coverages. Engage in collaborative projects in support of other functional areas of the company, including underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations, and technology. Analyze coverage terms and effectively interact with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, underwriters, and other external and internal parties as required. Provide superior service to all customers, whether internal or external.

Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience handling liability insurance claims.  Experience in handling specialty lines claims is preferred. Four-year college degree is required but J.D. is preferred. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with particular aptitude for technical writing (writing sample may be requested). Must be willing to travel occasionally as necessary. Strong computer skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.


Medical Malpractice Claim Analyst

Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, and medical malpractice claims made against medical professional liability policyholders. Analyze coverage terms and effectively interface with defense counsel and other third parties.

Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years' experience handling claims for hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities and other types of health care facilities and professionals preferred. Must have an adjusting license in one or more states. College degree or equivalent work experience with advanced degree or insurance designation desired. Candidates must possess excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Multi-state claims handling experience preferred. Ability to travel as necessary (up to 25%). Strong Microsoft Office computer skills.


Business Systems Analyst/Developer

Responsibilities:
Become a key member of a growing IT team in a technology focused specialty insurance company. Utilize business and analytical skills to implement solutions for insurance systems which support a dynamic business plan. Perform analysis, design, documentation, testing and support of projects/systems/applications.

Requirements:
Experience, ability, and desire to support complex reporting needs covering all insurance operations; familiarity with Data Warehouse and OLAP concepts; desire and ability to help define reporting infrastructure.  Demonstrated ability to understand and provide alternate solutions to complex problems using advanced analytical skills.  Strong technical skills including .net, ASP.NET, C#, Oracle SQL and Crystal Reports; ability to write complex SQL queries; strong technical/analytical ability and communications skills; willingness to work on a team and independently, on both small and large projects; experience with professional liability insurance a plus.


Insurance Agents and Brokers Underwriter

Responsibilities:
Day to day development of agent and broker relationships; underwrite professional liability for insurance agents and brokers and other miscellaneous professional liability insurance opportunities submitted by agents/brokers.

Requirements:
3 or more years' experience underwriting professional liability insurance, demonstrated success cultivating and managing strong producer relationships; strong technical underwriting ability and negotiation skills; communications skills; interest and skill with office technologies is preferred. Some travel required.


Oracle Database Administrator (Senior Analyst)

Responsibilities:
Review all Data Dictionary Language (DDL) prior to promotion to production with the goals being efficiency, security and compatibility; Provide both system and primarily application Database Administration support to Oracle Database environment; Augment existing backup and recovery procedures with newer technologies/methods; Create, implement and manage Enterprise Database Standards; Provide subject matter expertise support to Application Development/Support teams; Review Database Error/Informational Logs on a frequent basis; Analyze Oracle storage capacity requirements and recommend changes to the storage environment as necessary; Performance Tuning of Database environment and objects contained therein.

Requirements:
TExperience with Oracle 9i, 10g and 10gR2 required; Unix/Linux proficiency; Strong SQL and PL/SQL analysis and design experience; Ability to understand technologies at a very detailed level; Tested experience with RMAN; Proven success as an Oracle DBA supporting production and non-production databases in a 24x7 environment; Ability to communicate with business users and IT staff at a professional level; Experience with Bash or Perl scripting; Understanding of Materialized Views; Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively; Candidate must have experience with STATSPACK and the ability to assess the results produced; Experience with Index-Organized and Partitioned tables; Respond to production support pages in a timely fashion; Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server administration is helpful, but not necessary; Experience with security-based triggers and the AUDIT statement.


LPL Underwriter

Responsibilities:
We’re looking for a lawyers professional liability (LPL) underwriter to join our team in support of a growing book of business in a fast paced and challenging environment. Responsibilities include analysis and underwriting of new and renewal LPL business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and rating rules, day-to-day development of agent and broker relationships; and working with the LPL underwriting manager to achieve premium targets and objectives.

Requirements:

Own and drive the division’s brand plans, product marcom plans, and manage initiatives to achieve plan objectives. Seek and provide creative input through Darwin’s central resources to positively grow and support brand goals, while ensuring consistency of message. Manage projects within budget and meet tight deadlines. Coordinate and manage conferences and trade show logistics. Assist in the creation and editing of product-line communications, including advertisements, web and e-newsletter content, product collateral, press releases, industry white papers, and more. Interface with internal, centralized marketing/communications/brand resources, including corporate marcom staff. Take accountability for and ensure superior brand, marketing, and communications support.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 plus years' integrated marketing, communications, advertising, PR, and web/digital media development experience. Product brand management and/or advertising agency account management experience in the health care industry preferred. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, including several years of solid writing and editing experience. Strong attention to detail. Responsibilities:
Develop and cultivate agent and broker relationships; underwrite commercial D&O insurance opportunities submitted by agents/brokers; and manage underwriting and new business development activities for assigned territory.

Requirements:
3 or more years' experience underwriting commercial D&O coverage; demonstrated success cultivating and managing strong producer relationships; strong technical underwriting ability and negotiation skills; communications skills; proficient computer skills with Windows-based office technologies is preferred, as well as a desire to be a lead territorial underwriter with substantial producer development responsibilities. Regular travel required.


Senior Actuary

Responsibilities:
The actuary will interact throughout Darwin and will work primarily with other actuaries, underwriters and system analysts. The actuary will play an important role in product development and related enhancement of core systems as well as performing complex actuarial analyses and special projects. Assigned responsibilities will be commensurate with experience and abilities and will include: Develop and/or maintain complex rating plans for a variety of new and existing products, Compile and analyze data from Darwin and other data sources, Prepare profitability reviews and other actuarial analyses, Work with others to develop rating specifications for strategic systems, Special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelors degree in mathematics, computer science or other technical major preferred. 2-5 or more years experience working in actuarial or other technical area in property/casualty insurance. ACAS desirable. Advanced skills with Excel, Access and Word. Strong communication skills.
