Account Coordinator

Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters by rating/pre-underwriting new and renewal submissions, and following each account through to issuance of policy, or policy declination. Initiate and manage account renewal process. Manage submission intake and renewal requests. Research and organize new/renewal submissions to assist underwriters in determining if the risk fits within our underwriting appetite. Draft external communications for agent/broker communications. Establish and maintain electronic and paper underwriting files. Issue and transmit released quotes into Darwin's proprietary underwriting system and other applications. Complete and distribute insurance documentation to policyholders and agents/brokers. Follow-up and process policy endorsements. Provide customer service to agents by answering questions via phone, email or fax. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:
2 years’ professional work experience, previous insurance experience or training preferred. Proficient computer skills, especially in Windows-based systems Microsoft Word and Excel, and Internet. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Multitask and work independently and problem solve. Must be highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented. Ability to perform standard office functions, telephone, e-mail communications, filing, etc.


AVP-Marketing/Communications

Responsibilities:
As Head of Marketing for Darwin this role will develop, manage and deliver internal and external, marketing, communications and public relations strategies in support of revenue growth objectives. This role will be responsible for further defining Darwin’s “brand” and ensure this brand is core to all communication (web, newsletters, collateral etc.) This role you will manage the development and execution of strategic marketing plans and the overall marketing budget. Critical success factors for this role include: development and implementation of best practices; devising and implementing highly effective marketing and PR strategies in support of new products, new business ventures and risk appetite changes; a demonstrable track record in brand development, client/agency relationship management, communications, planning and project management; ability to serve as a marketing/brand strategist and leader supporting the company’s business model and value proposition; influencing the strategic direction of the Company including formulation of long-range objectives and strategic marketing plans; the ability to provide accurate, relevant and timely information that fosters business insight, analysis, and teamwork; assist in the achievement of increased sales and underwriting profitability; positioning and promoting the company, its products, services, and people favorably in the insurance marketplace.

Requirements:
8-10 years of business-to-business and corporate marketing/communications experience of increasing responsibility; Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework required. MBA preferred. Fluent in the language and implementation of corporate marketing strategy and the integration of marcom tactics across traditional and “new” media (i.e., on- and off-line). Skilled in the areas of B2B brand management, print advertising, corporate communications, public relations, direct marketing, Internet-based communications, conference and tradeshow marketing, and project and budget management. Channel marketing/communications skills are a distinct advantage.


Senior Claim Analyst

Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims made against Darwin’s expanding book of directors and officers business including public, private, not for profit, and healthcare companies. Also handle claims under Darwin’s managed care errors and omissions policies. Effectively manage a vigorous load of cases involving a broad spectrum of accounts and coverages. Analyze coverage terms and effectively interact with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, underwriters, and other external and internal parties as required. Engage in collaborative projects in support of other functional areas of the company, including underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations, and technology. Provide superior service to all customers, whether internal or external.

Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience handling liability insurance claims or related relevant experience. Experience in handling specialty lines claims is preferred. Four-year college degree is required but J.D. preferred. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with particular aptitude for technical writing (writing sample may be requested). Must be willing to travel occasionally as necessary. Strong computer skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.


Associate Actuary

Responsibilities:
The actuary will interact throughout Darwin and will work primarily with other actuaries, underwriters and system analysts. The actuary will play an important role in product development and related enhancement of core systems as well as performing complex actuarial analyses and special projects. Assigned responsibilities will be commensurate with experience and abilities and will include: Develop and/or maintain complex rating plans for a variety of new and existing products, Compile and analyze data from Darwin and other data sources, Prepare profitability reviews and other actuarial analyses, Work with others to develop rating specifications for strategic systems, Special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelors degree in mathematics, computer science or other technical major preferred. 5 or more years experience working in actuarial or other technical area in property/casualty insurance.  Professional Liability experience preferred. ACAS preferred. Advanced skills with Excel, Access and Word. Strong communication skills.


Compliance Associate

Responsibilities:
Assist Senior Compliance Analyst with company licensing initiatives on behalf of Darwin National Assurance Company (and subsidiaries); research licensing requirements, complete required forms and prepare applications for submission to State Insurance Departments; maintain status reports for licensing projects; assist with adjuster licensing; prepare and submit individual adjuster licensing applications to targeted States; maintain status chart to reflect new licenses and renewal dates of existing licenses; assist Compliance Analysts with product filings; utilize SERFF for submitting product filings electronically to State Insurance Departments; assist with State correspondence regarding all Darwin entities; perform internet research to track changes to existing insurance laws; complete special assignments as requested.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years of experience in the insurance industry or financial services industry; familiarity with UCAA insurance licensing applications a plus; ability to understand project scope and maintain attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to process data and record information accurately; self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision; ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing priorities; commitment to personal and team success.


Senior Claim Analyst

Medical Malpractice Claim Analyst

Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, and medical malpractice claims made against medical professional liability policyholders. Analyze coverage terms and effectively interface with defense counsel and other third parties.

Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years' experience handling claims for hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities and other types of health care facilities and professionals preferred. Must have an adjusting license in one or more states. College degree or equivalent work experience with advanced degree or insurance designation desired. Candidates must possess excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Multi-state claims handling experience preferred. Ability to travel as necessary (up to 25%). Strong Microsoft Office computer skills.


LPL Underwriter

Responsibilities:
We’re looking for a lawyers professional liability (LPL) underwriter to join our team in support of a growing book of business in a fast paced and challenging environment. Responsibilities include analysis and underwriting of new and renewal LPL business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and rating rules, day-to-day development of agent and broker relationships; and working with the LPL underwriting manager to achieve premium targets and objectives.

Requirements:

Errors and omissions insurance protect business professionals whose clients could claim damages as a result of the business professional's faulty performance.

Responsibilities:

Function as a subject matter expert and resource for insureds, underwriters and claims professionals. Develop and produce regular communications for internal customers (claims and underwriting) and external customers (insureds and brokers). Actively participate in underwriting decision making through pre-bind and renewal risk assessment, underwriting round tables and claims committee. A passion for technology a must.

Requirements:
3 or more years' experience underwriting commercial D&O coverage; demonstrated success cultivating and managing strong producer relationships; strong technical underwriting ability and negotiation skills; communications skills; proficient computer skills with Windows-based office technologies is preferred, as well as a desire to be a lead territorial underwriter with substantial producer development responsibilities. Regular travel required.
